Water video, is it real or is it fake?
Although the video seems to suggest that the water within the cup could stay suspended because of surface tension, this is not the case. Surface tension can only resist gravity to a certain degree. Take the penny lab, for example. One would add water drops onto the penny until the gravity being forced upon the water molecules would overpower the surface tension created by the hydrogen bonds. This proves that although water has the ability to retain shape, it can only do so to a much smaller degree than that of a cup. The gravity would simply overpower the hydrogen bonds in the water molecules in the video. Water is cohesive in nature from the hydrogen bonding but it is physically impossible for it to be so cohesive that it would maintain the shape of it's former container. - Corey and Jamie
